Sanrio

Shintaro Tsuji is the founder of the company it was founded on August 10, 1960. The company was first called Yamanashi Silk Company he then wanted to put a design on his pieces and he hired cartoonist in 1973 is when they got the name Sanrio. The name is from a spanish word san (holy), rio (river), The book korega sanrio no himitsu desu or This is the Sanrio company secret gives another origin of the name. The company partnered up with UNICEF in 1984. Sanrio is a japaness company of designers, their focus is on kawaii (cute). Sanrios best known character is Hello Kitty. They also do movie production and publishing, they own the peanut characters and their branch is called Kokoro Company which means "heart" in japaness. Sanrios most popular character is Hello Kitty but they have many other characters, some favorites other then Hello Kitty are The Little Twin Stars which Mr. Tsuji created himself, My Melody, Keroppi, Tuxedo Sam, Badtz-Maru, Chococat, Cinnamoroll, Sugarbunnies and Jewelpet, they add three characters a year to their lineup. In late 2003 they won the "Top Brand with a Conscience" award. In 2006 they then started Sanrio Digital with Typhoon Games to expand in on the internet, from online games and mobile service. To celebrate their 50th anniversary they came out with Build-a-bear stuffed toys of the characters, including Hello Kitty, Chococat, My Melody and Keroppi. Sanrio have two theme parks in Japan, Sanrio Puroland in Tama, Tokyo and Harmonyland[14] in Hiji, Oita, Kyushu. Sanrio has over 85 Sanrio boutiques, Sanrio character-branded products are sold in upwards of 12,000 locations. Sanrio has also produced their own movies here is the list:
